Boerne Locals

When deciding where we wanted to live, we chose Boerne, Texas. Moved down from DFW during the pandemic to get out of the major city and to move closer to family. When deciding where we wanted to have our kids, Boerne again. With the amazing schools and daycares in Boerne we checked that across other deciding factors like crime rate and things to do in Boerne. Then came the time to quit our jobs and build our own business.

So we got with the same realtor that found us our house Bonnie Rutt to help us execute the lease from Sophia Circle Realty right here in Boerne, Texas, 78006.

Where there challenges? Sure, Planning and Zoning made us go through a fun 60-day process to get a Special Use Permit, Spend hundreds of dollars on fees and surveys and hours of time in city council meetings. I do not begrudge them, its enlightening to see how the city works up close like that. We learned a lot, and all our fees where paid right back to the city so again, community investment.

When the community comes to have and adventure at our Escape Room, we pay our sales taxes to the very city we live in. This supports our community. We have gone out of our way to hire local kids for summer jobs. For many of them Boerne Escape Rooms is their first job, and we coach them on a variety of skills they can take back to school. We have taught low voltage wiring, puzzle, and riddle design. We have had them learning our POS and inventory systems while giving them a behind the scenes look at the set up and running of the various software systems. We hope one day these employees start their own business and remember these lessons.

When we go out for a movie at the STARPLEX*, That is the Boerne community again edit*(operated by AMC now).

We get our breakfast taco’s at Mary’s Tacos and our dinner tacos at Boerne Taco House. Bumdoodlers for sandwiches, and pies, or over at Little Gretel getting our Spaetzle and a mug of Paulaner

We have had a great time meeting with the Boerne Visitors Center and adding our brochures to their list of “Things to do in Boerne Texas”. Be sure to take a moment to look at all the rich history in the building. They have a very old cash register on display that boggles the mind.

When we are not eating and drinking around town, we love taking our kids out to the park, and Boerne has several amazing parks. Right out of downtown is River Road Park and you can catch us there or Kinderpark with the kids on our off days. Then a stop by the spotted deer for a coffee or matcha and dip into Parkers ice Cream for a sweet treat for the kiddos and a take home pint of a tipsy treat for the adults. (Do not drink and drive, nor should you eat alcohol ice cream and drive!)

What I really want to get across is the notion that we just cannot imagine leaving all the wonderful things Boerne has to offer to open a business near Loop 1604. Boerne Escape Rooms is proud to be Woman-Owned and proud to be Boerne Local.
